Mindful Mandalas: Botanical Doodling For Self-Care

My Inspiration Image Bank Photos
I used just the photos of the 3 objects on the left hand side for my project, but I have a TON more images to keep developing more doodles from, which is super helpful :)
My Botanical Doodle Library
I'm surprised at the amount of doodles I managed to get from 3 relatively simple botanical references - I think once I got through the first 5-10, more ideas kept coming, so I found it quite helpful to really try and fill the whole page with ideas which gave me lots to play with later - lots here hasn't made it into my final Mandala drawings so there's quite a bit to revisit another time.
Grounding Mandala
I enjoyed drawing this one. I found that thinking about the overlapping elements - which flowers or leaves were in front or behind others, was a nice puzzle for my brain to relax into whilst being challenging enough to keep me very present with the drawing throughout.
Cyclical Mandala
This is my favourite of my 3 mandalas visually, and i really enjoyed the process of drawing it too. I really like having the 3 larger focal flowers on one side, it really gave me something to get my teeth into! I also liked syncing my breathing with the drawing where that was possible - I felt as though I got very immersed in drawing this one.
Growth Mandala
This was my favourite drawing process of the 3 - I really liked the simplicity and repetition of using one shape for this mandala, and having that simplicity allowed me to think more about the direction the marks were going in, and it also freed up my brain enough for me to do some reflection on those things in my life which support me - I found this one I think the most impactful in terms of having a mindful experience, I really enjoyed drawing it.
