Hey George, great job getting to your first draft. I'm glad you found the extra resources helpful. You should find my marked up copy at the bottom with some small formatting suggestions.  I really like this cover image/collage that you came up with, it perfectly captures the tone of the film. Your characters reminded me of 'Eastbound &amp; Down'. The feeling of a character like Vinnie who is a bit disconnected from reality and sees himself as the center of his own drama. There were a lot of funny lines and I feel sorry for this small town having to deal with Vinnie and Sean's schemes and antics. I think that you have a knack for comedy, setting up preposterous situations and details about the characters (like the idea of Vinnie having a 'nemesis'). You mention that these are the first few pages of a feature - I'm curious about that longer story you have in mind - if you have the outline you can post it as well in your project description - that might be helpful to see. I've set a goal for myself to write 5 screenplays this year. I know the only way to get better as an aspiring screenwriter is to actually write. My plan is to write one of the scripts specifically for a no-budget film that I can raise the funds for and produce in late 2016 or early 2017. 

Beyond the writing, what would you recommend as next steps for someone getting started like myself?

Books? Additional courses? Events?

Hey George, thank you for your kind words! I do like your ambition and how you're breaking it down into specific steps. When you say five scripts this year, is that a combination of shorts and features? More writing is definitely the number one thing I would recommend and then the supporting activities would be studying films that you admire and see as examples of what you want to do (both the final film as well as reading the screenplay). There are a couple of courses I can recommend, but they get costly pretty quickly, I would try to see what you're able to get out of books first. For writing shorts, I think I recommended 'Crafting Short Films That Connect' which I think is great. I would also look at 'What They Don't Teach You In Film School', a lot of the technical chapters are outdated now, but the first few chapters are really encouraging. I think 'Fast, Cheap and Written That Way: Top Screenwriters on Writing for Low-Budget Movies' is also a good book with some ideas, the author has a couple of books in this vein. There a lot of theory books I could recommend, but to be honest that stuff can be paralyzing and I think actually looking at films and case studies you want to mimic might be better for you at this stage. I'm guessing you would direct as well?

The Miami Dog project
Hi Everyone!
This is my first crack at writing a script. I had so much fun doing it and learned much in the process.&nbsp;
This is an idea I had for a full-length movie. I just wrote the first 13 pages but I have the rest of the screenplay outlined and will be working on it.
I'm painfully aware it's a first draft and a first attempt at screenwriting, but I would love to hear your thoughts and get your feedback.
A big THANK YOU to you, Kasem, for puttng this course (and project) together and creating all the training videos and supplemental videos especially for us first timers! It was SUPER HELPFUL and I appreciate all the time and energy you put into it!
