Metallic Gouache Fun!

This has been a fun medium to learn this holiday! I have resisted gouache for about a year while I was learning watercolor, but many of my favorite artists also use gouache, so I decided to dive in! I got a set for Christmas, and they happen to be metallic pearl, so each color has a fun glimmer! I'm just starting to mix colors, because I really like to mix my own, but it's also a luxury to have such a variety of colors. I'm finding that adding water regularly makes the paint easier to flow on the paper. I collected a few leaves and objects on our snowy, winter walk today which were fun to paint!Metallic Gouache Fun! - image 1 - student project

I decided to paint the lines and full color sky on a 1/2 sheet of watercolor, so that I can make them into cards and use them after I'm done the class!

I will glue these smaller pieces to a card or a tag that I can use on a gift.

My word for 2022 is "ignite", so it went on my cloud painting! I hope to ignite a love of nature and nature journaling in others in my community as a way of relaxation and mood shifting. I also feel ignited by learning so many new techniques, tools and mediums on Skillshare and through my nature journal club!

I decided to paint my leaves and objects in sections so that I can cut them out and glue to a handmade card or tag for gift giving!
