I set out with the intention to make my teen son laugh. He is a Gen Z kid and I'm a millennial, we have a very similar sense of humor but he tends to think that my humor is a little cringey at times. But I wanted to find common ground with him. We were talking after school and below is the documented convo that made us both laugh:

Me: I used to go to Lake Tahoe as a kid!

Son: Isn't Lake Tahoe in Idaho?

Me: (*Extremely confused) No, it borders California and Nevada

Son: Oh... I feel Like it should've been in Idaho, because they rhyme.

Me: (Realizing my opportunity) Oh you mean because they both have hoes in them?!

Son: *Shocked Expression, then begins to chuckle silently after the full realization

Me: My work is done here!

 

I know the joke can be seen as a bit crude, but he's old enough to understand the context and innuendo, so I went for it and it paid off!
