Madrones Glistening in the Rain

Madrones Glistening in the Rain - student project

I live in a small town with a gorgeous park running through the middle of it. This time of year the Madrone trees have shed their bard and have this incredible smooth surface. I was walking through the park after it rained and the trees were soaking wet and glistening. It was so incredible. I noticed this one tree where someone had carved away the outer layer to expose this intensely dark under layer. They carved a heart, which I think is wrong, but also beautiful.  I tried to represent the tree the way the light shined off it in a few different ways.
