Madame Yvonne…

Madame Yvonne… - student project

Hi, it was so fun making a movie from your script. That was really helpful to have a script to start with.

I also learned a lot, from my mistakes mostly! A few take away:

- I filmed with Filmic Pro in log 4, 800 ISO. Unfortunately I used the 1X and the 3x focal to get variety in my shots. But the quality of the 3x was terrible, especially since I kept the iso at 800 (I had no. d filters and wanted more dynamic range). Next time I need to stick with the 1x and maybe get some mount on lenses. I had to minimised the screen time of close ups. With the use of digital zoom in post harmonised definition a bit, and gave space for more close ups.

- I filmed alone (does my 6 years old assistant count?), the camera movement was an editing afterthought. Up to adding the zoom in and out, I preferred a simple master to the edited version, especially the quality of the lenses was so different. Next time I will explore just a master and all movement and focal changes made by actors.

- I did not think about titles and did not have templates or plugins or Photoshop. I am not happy with what I have, I guess I need to learn more about titles or maybe by a pack? Felt a bit intense for a short course homework.

- I designed a space that was not conducive to wide shots. But I used the reasonably bare circle arround the bowl in the table and the air above the heard to give an Ames of space, even though I wanted the aesthetic to be visually busy.

- The reversed shot on the phone show that I did not work on the full set!!! I wish I had prepared more design on the wall. The chair was a bit thin and disconnected with the busy set on the other shots.

Would love to have feedback on the project. https://vimeo.com/1016709805
