So after deciding waffle as cuisine, I struggled to think of an animal that would pair well with waffle.

I thought about the ingredients, milk/eggs etc and also the word 'Waffle' which can mean someone talking a lot.

I decided to play on the word waffle and go with birds, as an animal they talk a lot!

I still found it hard to pair them together but came up with this:

 

After exploring the idea for a while I noticed that the space between 'Waffle' and a 'Away' almost looks like a bird head, so I developed this a little further into a different, simpler logo, with a chicken in mind:

 

Funnily enough after all the effort it took to make the first one, I prefer the second!
