Landscape Sketch

Landscape Sketch - image 1 - student project

This is my final sketch. As you can see it's a simple, and very loose - almost abstract - sketch of my chosen place.

I wanted to post this to show you that your drawing can be as detailed or as abstract as you like. What's most important - and hopefully got this from the class - is your process in this drawing, not the final outcome.

What did you feel at your chosen landscape?

What did you want to capture or say in your drawing?

Did you "see more" in the landscape, the more you drew?

In my case, my drawing felt very personal because this particular place in Sligo connects me to my Dad in a special way. This is a part of Ireland that my Dad loved the most, and returned to as often as he could throughout his life. I wanted to write about this here in order to encourage you to find a place that holds special meaning to you, if you can, in order to deepen that experience, both of the place itself, and of your process.

So, if you feel like it you can share your story of the chosen spot along with your drawing :)

Have fun! and let me know how you get on
