Lady Luna: A Gouache Journey

For this class, I decided to use gouache in order to make sure my paintings would be lightfast. I have not worked much in gouache and in the past I have usually used it more like watercolor. It was fun finally learning how to use it at its opaque best.
Project 1: Sea Cliff
Project 2: Night Flora
I really love how this one turned out. So simple, yet it makes a statement.
Project 3: Night Falls
Another simple painting that is an attention grabber with that strong contrast between the water and the landscape. I decided to add some trees instead of a fence. I like the depth it gave the painting.
After this point I skipped several classes. Although I watched each class and learned a lot from them, some of them just didn't appeal to my style. I also started to get a little fatigued from all the harsh monotone. Taking this class has made me realize I need color in my life. Although doing the occasional B&W painting will probably be something I do in the future as I think it really does make a statement in a way that a more colorful piece doesn't.
Project 8: Moonlit Mountain
Project 9: Midnight Road
Project 10: Curvy Plateau
I think at this point the monochromatic of the black and white was starting to give me some mental fatigue. As lovely as this class is, I love color. My heart wasn't in this painting although I do love how the black and white birds turned out.
For my last project, I decided to create something more in my style. I loved learning how to create those smooth, buttery transitions using gouache but I felt the need for some sparkle and light.
Thank you so much to my teacher Rutvik Patel. This class was great and I felt I really learned a lot from it. You have such a talent for creating such beautiful silhouettes in your landscapes using soft blends and contrasting transitions between objects. It was a joy to paint along with you.
I hope you enjoy my interpretations on your works. I will be carrying what I learned from you with me into my future artworks.
