I actually already made myself sample charts of all my watercolors. I have tubes and a pan set of W&N Cotman watercolors, as well as a bunch of Dr. Ph. Martin's Radiant line. But the ones I want to show are my Inktense watercolor pencils and my Kuretake Gansai Tambi pan set colors.

I like the Inktense pencils because they're nice and bright, but I mostly use them to do the initial drawings because the pencil blends with my other watercolors and I don't have to erase. 

The bottom row are the blocks (shaped like conte crayons), which I don't really use tbh, because I don't like that you can't really get a smooth gradient out of them. But the regular pencils are quite nice. Definitely the best watercolor pencils I've ever used. 

I got my Kuretake Gansai Tambi 36 color set from JetPens.com, which is a really awesome site. There's always free shipping on orders of $25 or more, plus they have curated collections and guides for all sorts of different things. As far as their watercolor collection goes, they mostly carry Japanese brands. 

I think the colors are really nice (I'm in love with the turquoise green and pale aqua), but I know what you mean about how they dry differently than a lot of of other brands. It's sort of hard to explain, but yeah, there's a weird shine to them. I mix them with my Radients and W&N paints anyway though, which pretty much alleviates that issue. And really, it's not exactly an issue. I don't really mind, it just took some getting used to. Mostly, I'm in love with this set and the box is so pretty, haha. Like you said, the Japanese certainly know how to brand and box their art supplies successfully. And I just love that it comes with some metallics. Here are some close-ups...

Thanks so much for this class! I'm always on the lookout for good watercolor supplies, so this was awesome. I'm going to get the Sennelier half pan travel set that you have and bring it with me on my trip to Spain, Italy and Greece this summer! It'll be perfect for it. I also love your suggestion of putting some different colors in the palette and letting them dry.
