Kintsugi
People are my least favourite subject, but I found the prompt really interesting, especially as I practise the traditional kintsugi and have a few health conditions that make me feel broken at times.

I started with a rough pencil sketch, then outlined certain parts with a Sakura fineliner. I decided I wanted to make this a type of self portait to go with a spread I was making to start my newest art journal. So in-keeping with the prompt, I used flowers in place hair, and chose orange roses as it was easy to suggest waves with the petals.

I chose to have a very smile (anime style) face, because I deal with a lot of chronic pain and try to down play it to others. The Kintsugi in the face also reminded me of how my neuralgia feels, which is why my gold accents are where they are.

This was far out of my comfort zone, which is usually nature based (which is probably why I started adding leaves to the background), but I am pleased with how it turned out.

It is the final panel of a two page spread, and sits next to the first recognisable self portrait I've ever made.
