Jessy’s - cafe and restaurant

Background
Jessica Palmer is a Wokingham based hospitality entrepreneur starting her own food and drink business. Having dreamed of doing this for a long while, she is looking to develop a brand that reflects her unique personality and compliments the character and style of her new premises ‘Jessy’s’.

Objective
To position ‘Jessy’s’ as an contemporary but cosy eatery that is the best place to eat/hangout in Wokingham.

Distinguishing Characteristics
• Run by a local, who already knows a lot of people in town.
• Jess herself! She is a determined, vibrant and unique character.
• Impressive menu - different to anything in town.
• Independent Business amongst a lot of chains.

I developed two routes. Route A was based on Hand Painted Signs like the ones seen on barber or butcher shop windows. This had a home-made feel, a hint of vintage but with a modern twist. And route B was based on hand drawn type to give it a bespoke hand-made feel that is welcoming and approachable.

Jess selected RouteA 01 and I worked on creating my own Jessy's Typeface to be used on printed materials in the restaurant.

Then we worked together to develop the rest of the brand elements.

Which I then used to create a variety of printed and digital pieces.
