Jazzy song for my new film

Jazzy song for my new film - student project

I am an animation director and I am working right now on my new short film.

I decided early on, that for this one I will want to write some songs and sing. I usually pour my soul into those films of mine (and you should know animation is such a draining and long process), so why don't also give my voice and breath to them?

I have been singing a lot in the past, in bands, and in a-cappella groups, and I enjoy covers very much, but I NEVER really wrote something from scratch. So here I am, challenging myself, and making the process of an animated film even harder :D

Jokes asides, I found this class very useful and I watched it already a couple of times.
I approached lyrics writing as part of the creative process for the film itself, so at a very early stage of the script.
Later, I will for sure need to get in touch with one or more musicians to actually help me out with the music and recording.

I will update this project as I go, but here is a first step:

The piece will have a minor chord progression, and a jazzy feel to it, probably a little gypsy jazz/manouche.
I am imagining this piece to play at the end of the film when the end credits are on screen.

The main topic of the lyrics are WORDS and the obsessive search of the main character for a message.

Here are some first lines that I like and will include for sure in the final piece:

I was looking for some guidance
All I got was - silence.

Searching through the lines of a song,
You want to talk to me, am I wrong?

Layers of sadness, I am transparent,
Eat your greens, lose a parent.

Here again, thought I was strong,
Flipping through the pages, bye, so long.
