I am greatly inspired by interior design. I found this image on Pinterest and the colors seemed so striking to me. I thought it would be perfect for an inking/watercolor project.

I started with a sketch. I had to tweak it a few times to get it the way I wanted.

I inked with a thick micron which is waterproof. That way I don't have to worry about the watercolor paints smearing the lines.

I used a diluted black watercolor paint for the grey on the couch. I was careful not to let the paint run into the other areas.

Then I painted the background wall with the same color but used dark and light tones to contrast from the couch. I also left the paint smeared to create a European-like texture. This was a happy accident. Sometimes it's great to go with the flow.

Next, I added color to the pillows and small painting to add interest.

Finally, I finished with designs on the picture and the pillows, plus I added shading to the couch and wall. It's not just like the picture, but it's my version and I am happy with the way it evolved. Voila!
