Illustration Masterclass with grandma Adams
I designed this character while sitting in a theater, enjoying the story of the Adams family. I really liked the sweet-evil mix of the grandma and tried to capture that look. I enjoy ink and dip pens a lot and had fun with this one. But reflecting on it I wish the line would vary more....I choose a small illustration, because my goal was to do all the exercises, which usually I can´t get myself to do. So I thought a small illustration would increase the chance to keep going. With this size I felt a big brush pen might be too much, and too hard to control, so I took a smaller one. Unfortunately I don´t see much difference to the dip pen this way. It could have been a little more bold!?I think this one really looks different, compared to the other two. The carbon pencil creates a nice kind of simplicity.I love Fineliner, probably because they give so much control. At the same time I´m working on playing and trying to loose up. I had to think a little where I wanted to go over the contures, cause I think doing it everywhere might look too random!?Charcoal is a lovely medium too, especially combined with watercolour! Unfortunately my paper would not let me smudge as I wanted. More texture than smooth transitions. Thanx again for the Class Nina! :)
