Hello Beautiful World

Hello Beautiful World - student project

I decided to use this lovely script font called Octavia....I typed out the words I wanted to use, then printed and traced them. Next step was to transfer the trace onto quite smooth watercolour paper as I find it easier to scan and clean up than textured paper.

The final step was to plan which colour to start painting with and how to blend the colours on the paper...I admit I'm not an absolute beginner with watercolours but it didn't go exactly to plan.

For an extra flourish I added a small bird at the end to give the whole thing a bit of animation.

Then I scanned the whole thing into Photoshop and brightened up the backgound using 'levels'...then saved as a jpeg.

I've put the original painting into a frame for my studio and also I decided to use it with a print on demand website in the UK and have applied it to various products like t-shirts, mugs etc. Will post a link when they have gone live.
