Hands - The Artist's worst nightmare (? )

I have to say, this started out so damn difficult. I draw a few things but I never tried or had to draw a hand. Like most people I've heard talking about art, hands are seen as the nightmare of every artist. If you look up hand tutorials, many shorts or videos start by talking about how dreaded hands are, especially by beginner artists.
My first try started with me taking a picture of my hand. I tried to hold the pose and started drawing. Obviously, I created my own problem, but I started to check the picture, draw, check my hand, and draw until I was finished. Until I finished my second hand, I was actually proud of my first-ever drawn hand, but then I sent it to a friend, and well.. He said nothing bad, but I looked closer and saw literally nothing was right with the hand. It didn't look like the picture at all, obviously not, if I keep switching between 2 different angles. It also didn't look like my hand at all. I wanted to fix it but decided against it. The perspective of my picture made it very difficult to imagine how I had to draw the hand to get it right. I accepted that this was just the start and tried a different pose; my "second first try". To be honest, I don't wanna show it, but maybe it brings some laughter to whoever is reading this rn xD

I'm not gonna upload pictures of my hands, but believe me. This is NOT right.
But failing on my first hand and feeling better about the second try made sure I'm not giving up. I actually started to have fun on the third and fourth hands I drew, which I could never have imagined.
I sadly have to say the course itself didn't help me a lot to get this right, or at least better than it started. Nonetheless, without the course, I wouldn't have tried drawing hands any time soon, and the books I have at home helped me enough to get it looking ok for now!

And last but hopefully not least: the "second-first" try and my third hand!

Could be worse, right? 😆
