Geo grids

Geo grids - student project

First I've started by learning more about basic geometric grids.

Then I decided give it a try and make a simple design tile, since I was interested in making a pattern to go with the labels I was creating for my school project. This, I think is very similar to something I've seen in one of the lectures, but it was amazing practice. (:Geo grids - image 2 - student project

Then I've added some parts of the grid and texture. I think I love this part the most! (:

And here's the final mock of the package, where pattern design meets my label. This is supposed to be an idea of how to pack and sell holiday/winter socks. (:

One other pattern design I've created to go with the first one is a geometrical snowflake.

Thank you so much for creating this class. I had way too much fun!

There is so much material to work from and apply the skills in all sorts of ways. And I personally find myself going back to Skillshare and teachers here, every time I feel stuck with personal projects or school, or when I simple want to learn something new.

Cheers!

UPDATE:

This is an updated version of the update, and since first posting it, I've made some slight changes in the design as I wasn't happy with how it turned out. The idea behind it was to try and create some geometrical illustrations, maybe some plants and leaves. And then perhaps turn them into stamps?

Rectangular grids are my go-to grids and what I usually use whenever I start designing. I don't know if that has something to do with the way I'm taught, back in the days when I had painting classes, but there's some comfort seeing the space you are going to build upon and then add on top of that.

I made sure to show the process this time. (:

I've yet to play with gradients and I want to do something with blend tool as well! The options truely seem endless. Especially after watching the class. I feel like so much can be done with grids and I've just started.

Not so sure about the color palette, when I turned the hues I've picked into grey-scale, I saw that they are not too contrasting, but I'll keep them for now.
