<p>Great bleeds in the wing Janet. I would think about making the black pupil slightly rounder on the bottom half on each side - print off a copy of the painting first and have a tweak on that before you decide, i could be wrong and don't want you to ruin the real thing. Lovely soft shadows on the tummy, exactly what I was hoping the class would achieve.</p>

Thanks for the tips.  I just returned from Iceland and loved seeing the Puffins.  Was happy to find this tutorial!  I will repeat the whole thing and hopefully build up the layers more slowly next time.

OK, here is the 2nd try.  I tried to make the wings more loose.  Also did the face a little different and tried to build up the layers more slowly, but that is difficult!

I like the lighter touch on the wings and the face on the second go is really good. The layers may have been difficult but it doesn't look like you've struggled at all. I find myself drinking way too much coffee to make me wait between layers.  The feet are nice too.
