<p>You've gone above and beyond with this sampler! I'm super impressed that you've experimented with thread weights to find which suits your fabric, needle, and personal preferences best. Sometimes if you're finding a thread particularly fussy to work with (for example, some heavier weight threads which want to twist and knot badly, particularly when working double), you might find that running some wax along the length of it will help it behave a bit more politely. Excellent work so far, and I'll see what I can do about future projects! ;)</p>

Experimenting was key to feeling less frustration when things went awry (I had other needles and threads to try out, so I was less inclined to believe it was all on me). 

Thanks for the wax tip! I did buy some linen thread and was planing on using wax on that, but didn't get a chance to try that material with the stitches we covered in the class. I won't hesitate to use it on non-linen threads now!

<p>Here are some examples (front and back-facing) of my first attempts. Tried different needles (10, 7, 3) and different threads (cotton, polyester, silk buttonhole twist) to get a sense of how the thread feels and behaves. The superthick purple polyester was very hard to work on the buttonhole, but the silk was really nice! However, the purple polyester looked great on the buttonhole bar. This was an amazing intro class. Can’t wait to take other intro classes to start creating things with these stitches (hopefully with Bernadette’s guidance!)</p>
