Expressive Figure Drawing Project

Here are my four drawings based on each of the exercises in the class. The first one is arguably my go-to technique whenever I want to loosen up and draw in a more intuitive and responsive manner. I used a ball point pent to ensure that the lines were smooth and free-flowing because sometimes a pencil or a charcoal is not quite as fluid.

The non-dominant-hand drawing is also a favorite of mine that I rely on to help me draw shapes that otherwise seem really challenging. It might be wobbly, but it's a very effective way of drawing observed shapes!

Third up is the stick drawing - my least favorite! But I appreciate it nonetheless, it is always very exciting to discover new ways of drawing and when you push yourself out of your comfort zone it's not only worth it, but feels like you can own the breakthrough in a more tangible way!

Lastly the blind contour drawing - although this really doesn't look like the reference or the model, the drawing itself is always beautifully observed when you apply this method.

I hope you try all of these exercises out for yourself!! I can't wait to see your drawings. Let me know if you have any questions at all - drop a comment here,  or ask me in the Discussion section.
