Drawing with a limited color palette

Drawing with a limited color palette - student project

In this class, I'm teaching a simple method of choosing the best colors for your sketches. It works for any materials - from traditional watercolor, gouache and acrylic paints, colored pencils, and markers to digital Procreate, Photoshop, etc. Make a sketch with materials of your choice in three steps:

STEP 1 | Make a pencil thumbnail to determine the composition, linework, and the main value masses.

STEP 2 | Experiment with color harmonies that I'm explaining in "The basics of Color Theory" video.

STEP 3 | Choose one of the thumbnails you like the most and create the final sketch.
