Di-no-saur! - student project

I took this class a year ago but am now posting about it because this class has transformed the way I draw digitally. I decided to draw a dinosaur toy so I started with a photo I took. I drew on top of it using additional layers in Photoshop.

I used Kyle's brushes and used a Ruff Pencil to draw the outline.

I then drew some inner details and lines to add some dimension to the drawing. After that, I filled the drawing in with a main fill color.

The last step was using layer masks (very important!) to add highlights and shadows within the fill color. Here is the final drawing!
