Daytrader

Daytrader - student project

Hello!

The band that I've decided to create a poster for is called Daytrader. One of the songs that inspired me is called "Firebreather". My understanding of the song is that when you keep your emotions inside for too long, they begin to burn you up from the inside out until you can't hold them in anymore.

Here's a few WIP drawing shots of the poster.

There's still a lot more to do before I start inking, but I'm very excited about the way this is turning out!

FINAL:

I chose not to clean up the digital verision after live tracing because I loved the gritty texture that it picked up from my drawing. I also decided not to go with traditional fire colors because I wanted it to feel more ghostly and toxic. So ended up using a teal, lime green and a dark muted green. The beige color would be the color of the paper.

When I started this project, I drew out some thumbnails and I was super excited to start working. When I actually picked up a pencil to start drawing I was paralyzed with fear. I was worried about it not being perfect and not having the skill to pull off the idea in my head. I had to force myself to start drawing. It was pretty uncomfortable at first, but eventually I started to relax and enjoy drawing. I guess I would suggest to anyone that it doesn’t need to be perfect, because nothing ever will be. Enjoying what you do and just being happy with the things you create is all that matters.

Thank you for the awesome class Jesse, I learned a lot and I look forward to taking your next class!
