I'm 34 and I've been keeping a daily journal since i was 12. normally, i just write the highlights/lowlights. the ideas in this course will definitely make my entries more interesting. thank you

Lana, I like that you taught me that you can talk about everything you see. I was so focused on trying to think about something that personally touched me that I'd forgotten you can broaden your horizons. I like that you looked at the whole picture and kind of listed them - like this is what you have now. It was cool to see done. Thank you.

For Day 1 I wrote about a day I had to myself at Central Park in New York. As a Los Angeles native, it seemed so surreal to be in a beautiful park with buildings looming over me with a gorgeous blue sky behind it. I sat on the green grass leaning on a big tree which shaded me from the sun, I'm not a big fan of the heat. So many people doing different things around me. Some were playing catch, others where climbing rocks, riding bikes along the paved walkways. It was such a wonderful feeling. I soaked in all the ambience whilst listening to Leeor Alexander on my headphones. I decided to go for a walk and explore more of the park. Before I knew it I was standing in front of a vast lake in the middle of the park. I loved the way the wind caused there to be waves on the lake. On that lake were ducks swimming in formation, wagging their cute little tails. I could see the reflection of the tall buildings of East Manhattan [at least I think it was East] I knew in that moment that I appreciated the small things in life. I was amazed at how much I had explored that day and how much more this world has for me to explore.

This was great writing. I got such vivid images in my mind. As an animal lover, this was obviously my favorite part "On that lake were ducks swimming in formation, wagging their cute little tails." ;-) Thank you for sharing!

Glad you enjoyed the part about the ducks 

I did day two today during my trip. I felt like this one was more difficult than yesterday. For me visual details are more important to remember things and the visual impressions of my surroundings are the ones I pay most attention to. Because of this the focus on the sounds was very interesting. I think I should focus on all the details in my surrounding more often so it was a great exercise.

I've just finished day one as well. It was so great! I really had a great new experience today and that journaling method was just the right way to preserve that moment for the future and to be able to always come back to it. I will not be able to share my journal entries, as I'm writing in german. But it's so great to just write down my feelings and thoughts.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Who knows, perhaps we have some other German students here as well. ;-)

Just done the first day, at first I didn't know what to wright. And After a few minutes, I find myself with a full page filled with emotions and words that I deeply knew I had in me but never had the guts to confront myself with.It feels weird, doesn't feel like me.But I quite like that feeling

That's the magic! Even after years of writing, I still find myself numb from time to time. And then, sometimes, the words just start flowing out of me. I'm glad you enjoyed it, even if it felt weird to you!
