DIY Photo Backdrop for watercolor paintings
Hi Tabitha, thank you for another great class. I finally can post my backdrop, somehow it took me several weeks to finish it, and then another week to upload the pictures. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the progress. I didn't have the tools at home so I just used a plastic card for the first coat and a large brush light colors. The first coat was acrylic paint I found at home - indigo, purple and some turquoise, well turquoise got lost in darker colors and it all looked very dark - and I realized that it is too dark, and most probably I won't use it because don't really have dark colors on my Instagram. So a week after I looked what other paint I have and I found some white acrylic paint, so I mixed a little bit of cheap carmine red watercolor to it, until it started looking like a raspberry ice cream. And I painted the second layer using a big harsh brush, when it dried I decided to add some white brushstrokes, hoping for a creative look. Now it is a pretty pleasant board to look at, but I am still not sure if it will work as a background, or it is too textured and too colorful for that. What do you think?
Thank you so much for inspiration, and directions.
Irina.
