It has been a while since my last florals I chose red anemone and hypericum berry for my red practice. I realized I don't know the pigments of many of my reds and that Winsor and Newton permanent rose is actually a violet pigment!

My florals have mixes with Lemon Yellow, Aquamarine Blue and Red Light (PR2) *and a tiiiny bit of something i had on my mixing palette, the last pale blue from the squares)

ORANGE

Most of my oranges have a stronger bias towards yellow and it shows when doing the complementary exercise. I discovered a lot pretty combinations.

Here is a little extra, some spontaneous yummy color combinations when cleaning my brush in between swatches or when trying to use the mixes from my palette. I really like how Ultramarine looks with a bit of orange and complemented with a brownish version of the same two colors. Quin. gold and Ultramarine also make gorgeous vintage colors! (that's what I used for the flowers)

YELLOW AND GREEN

I had more yellows than I thought I did, which is nice, to be honest I prefer mixing yellow and blue than using green watercolors, except for really bright yellow greens. I love vibrant cool greens and I use them as base for mixing with blue, yellow, purple or any other color. I didnt practiced loose style for my yellow bouquet but remembered to add a bit of looseness for the green composition. I discovered how lovely tall grasses with deep reds look!

BLUE

So many blues! The ironic part? Probable one of my least favorite colors, unless it's combined with something else. For me, it is just like salt or pepper: never consumed alone, but wonderful when added to almost anything else. I'm really enjoying practicing compositions instead of straight copying from a reference!

Oh yes, almost forgot to mention about my neutral experiments with blue and red/orange . So many interesting results! greens, purples, brown and some grays. wow.

VIOLET

My favorite color!! I could even stare at the color chart all day and be happy. It's just aaaaahh wonderful with blue, magenta, red and even tiny bits of yellow! Btw, Jackson's payne gray is there mistakenly, I only read it had violet pigment and put it there, but I decided to leave it because I see potential for combinations with other PV19 paints.

Finally white and negative painting! really enjoyed this one as well, used my favorite blue: French ultramarine, violet of course and tiny bits of opera pink and yellow. I think I'm finally getting how to paint better stems!!! I can see the improvement from the first to bouquets to the last ones.

Thank you Nina! it's always a pleasure to take your color mixing classes!
