Color & Light practice: Moods, materials
This "deer" artwork is inspired by the forest spirit from Princess Mononoke (Studio Ghibli).
Being part of the course, I wanted to show how using different color palettes can portray different moods in the artworks.
What do you feel? Which one is the calmest? Which one is the scariest? Which one evokes hope?
Feel free to upload your work in progress, sketches, and anything else you find interesting. I'd love to see your artworks
This artwork was inspired by a documentary I watched about the polar circle and polar foxes. I just love how fluffy they look and I just felt the urge to do a fur study.
In this practice, I did a study of my hand against the sun to explore the phenomenon of subsurface scattering. It's a light transport in which light that penetrates the surface of a translucent object is scattered by interacting with the material and exits the surface at a different point.
In this study, I was inspired by an old ad for Haribo (the producers of the gummy bears). If you are from German-speaking part of Europe you surely know the old ad slogan: "Haribo macht Kinder froh, unde Erwachsene ebenso" :)) Nostalgy aside, here I was exploring subsurface scattering again, on a "jello" like material.
In this study, I explored crystals. I have been always fascinated by them in a sense of how they interact with light and light with them. Every time I go on an excursion to some cave I am speechless realizing that the crystals have been sometimes forming for millions of years.
Looking forward to seeing your projects as well!
cheers, Iva
