Colette Laurel Dress

Colette Laurel Dress - student project

Working through fabric selection on my next Colette Laurel dress. I love this pattern! Debating between a classic light wash tencel denim, eggplant tencel twill, and a lighter weight printed rayon poplin. I think the printed rayon poplin would be too light and swingy for this body skimming shift dress style. It would probably work for a blouse version though!

I am leaning towards the denim. The tencel fiber content makes it soft and it has a nice drape while still being heavy and sturdy enough for an everyday dress. I love the look of denim so realistically I think I'll get the most wear out of a denim dress.

In case you are wondering: Tencel is a type of rayon, also known as lyocell fiber. It's known for it's softness, beautiful drape, and it has a cool (temperature) handfeel which is quite nice.

Which fabric would you pick?
