I like that you also then moved to A minor, another Tonic chord.I think it'd be great if from there you try going to an F major chord or a D minor chord. From there, I'd recommend to try moving to a G major or E minor chord, which would be a Pre-dominant chord. And then move to an A major or A7 chord, which would be a Dominant chord and then end with the D major chord.I suggest that you try writing some more chord progressions and play around with different combinations that I mentioned here.
