I explored different shapes for the five circus characters. I looked at fruit shapes (fig, dragon fruit, peaches) as an initial inspiration and then developed the different poses from a combination of reference images on Pinterest and playing around with the proportions.

 

 

I'm reassessing and looking at the characters again to see if I can get them to come together as a 'family' of characters. The 'dragon-fruit' inspired boy looks a bit too much like dragon ball Z, so I might leave him out.

 

I cleaned up the sketch and concentrated on just three characters. The final step would be inking and adding colour and lighting, which would really bring the piece to life!

This took some time to get right, and I needed to look at lots of reference of girls at different ages as well as thinking about the personality during that period.  @liza_lluma
