Breakfast Inspiration

Breakfast Inspiration - student project

Hi Molly,

Thank you so much for offering this course! Your lessons were easy to understand and while I was able to complete the project quickly, I was pretty amazed at how complex and realistic the results looked. Thanks too for recommending the chalkboard textures from Studio Denmark — a great product. I had just one technical issue with your method: I am working with PS CS6 (which may not explain the following) and despite repeated attemps, was unable to select Image >Adjusment>Levels. When the pencil drawing layer was a smart object, Levels was greyed out, although in your video it looked as if it this action should be easy to do. Google turned up the following workaround, which allowed me to complete your technique, but obliged me to rasterize the drawing layer. Solution number one, using the eraser, worked for me. :

I'd be very interested to know what I might have been doing wrong. Anyway, it all worked out fine, here it is. I got the idea early yesterday morning while my 12-year-old daughter was eating her favorite breakfast. I did the final sketch in 8B pencil on Strathmore layout paper, and composed the final piece in a 1080 x 1080 pixel format and posted it to my Instagram account (tagged you as requested!)
