Good idea Gaylene, I love that use of Amethyst genuine. Unexpected colors are one of my favorite features in a painting, it really works here. You have done such a great job creating depth in you piece -with the horns, in the nose and his fur. Beautiful painting.

Gaylene your bison is beautifully executed and I love how you added the amethyst genuine. The flicks of hair are perfect and the horns have such nice melding of the colors. You also nailed the facial features. Just a beautiful piece of art!  :)

Wow, this is absolutely amazing! I love all the textures, your use of colour, his soft gaze... And those snowflakes are the cherry on top! Funny how a couple of white dots can tell a whole story on their own, huh?

Thank you Jerney. Yes that's why I prefer a loose style over a photographic style. It encourages the viewer to write their own story about the piece, more exciting.

I absolutely agree Gaylene! I always say that if I want to see something realistic, I will go outside! Art for me is about putting some of your soul into what you see.

Well, what can I say, just beautiful. I love him. And I showed him to Ben, and he thought this was one of my pieces. Honestly, we paint in very similar ways. If this were in a pile of my work, I would just consider it one of mine for good or bad 😂😘 I'm glad you added that hint to purple. I kept looking at different colours. But I was thinking, no, let's not overcomplicate this class. It really does lift this painting. You're a very intuitive painter!

Thank you Jane, you make me blush. What can I say, I've got a fabulous teacher :-) I didn't have the Sicklerite &amp; I could see how beautifully it granulated on your piece. Then I remembered the Daniel Smith dot chart you gave us in Puglia. Hurrah! it had a dot of Sicklerite! Not quite the same as dipping into a tube though but it sufficed, so it's definitely on my shopping list for the next trip to the Art store. I love those granulating colours.

Now you’re making me blush! Oh yes. I’m glad that was in the spot sheets. It is a good paint, not particularly punchy, but it granulates wonderfully and is a good tone 🧡🌟

Yes it was the tone I was after, as well as the granulation. I didn’t have another brown quite like it - they were either too yellow or too red.

I found myself holding my breath through this one, was challenging to get past that ugly stage. I used all the same colours as suggested, but as I could see purple in the reference photo I decided to add some Amethyst Genuine. Really happy with how he turned out. Thanks Jane for another great tutorial.
