Lovely painting Joanne. I like Brigett’s idea of a gift card for a couple expecting. It’s interesting about the differences picked up in the images. I too was having problems with my scanner, but it was new but doesn’t pick up faded colors such as in sky's at all. It’s a great printer, but I got me a new scanner just haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet.

My scanner is just an HP Deskjet, nothing fancy sadly lol!!

Hi Jo! Thank you very much for the information. I'm currently delving a bit deeper into this topic, and certain parameters like bit depth, resolution, etc. of scanners seems to be crucial. Does your scan output closely resemble your artwork? And how would you rate the image from the iPhone in comparison?

To be fair, it does scan fairly well, although it does 'dull' the colours of the original painting rather a lot. It doesn't pick up the shinier colours used very well. My eldest son gave it to me when he upgraded so it's probably a bit past it's sell by date now ~ but still does what it's supposed to do!
The iPhone ~ now, according to number 4 son it has a 'wicked' camera ~ so I'm presuming it is 'operator error' and not the fault of the actual phone!
I think I may ask him to show me the settings and how to use them properly!!!
The phone does the opposite to the scanner and picks up all the lovely brightness but it has that 'glare' on it. I may try just taking it outside and photograph it in the natural light ~ I think I did this in the evening so there was no natural light, hence the flash usage.

That's a good idea to take the photo in daylight. In my experience, preferably outside or near an open window to get the best results. Your artwork deserves it, and it would be nice to see it here again. Thanks for the detailed response and for your time, Jo. &lt;3

You're welcome, no trouble! Son number 4 is going to give me a lesson in using the iPhone camera today, as it's his day off! I shall then see if it makes a difference!

I must admit I haven't painted a nest or eggs before, so it's great to do something new.&nbsp;
