Banana Drama!

Banana Drama! - student project

As I didn’t have any plasticine to hand I improvised using fruit i.e. in this case a banana, two seedless red grapes, plus small chunks of gritty dark chocolate to create my little animated creature using stop motion animation. Enjoy!

All audio, effects and animation created and added in the Stop Motion Studio Pro version, which I already had installed. Gave it a bit of a shaky slightly out of focus feel when recording individual shots, a technique I used to increase the tension and drama of the story a little.

Also, as it was tricky to do a proper squash and stretch without mulching the banana, I made the creature get hit by an external mysterious, powerful magic force, rendering him speechless, whilst reducing and confusing the little fella in the process!

Originally I recorded 72 shots, but reduced it in the editing process to 57 pics, running at 10 frames per second. Some shots are also duplicated to give the effect of bouncing the images between the large and small sizes of the creature when it gets shocked into a new state of being by the lightning bolt! It's such a great and fun app to experiment with.
