Hi Peggy, thank you for this great to the point class on Illustrator patterns - I really enjoyed it! 
Here is my pattern from a little artwork of autumn leaves that I've made using Adobe Fresco.
And I've also tested it on a simple tote bag mockup just for fun.

P.S: your dog is so cute - I like how you were asking if he/she's mad at you, I've heard all the tap dancing during the class! :)
