Arcane Opening Scene – From Vander’s Perspective

Instead of experiencing the opening scene through the girls’ eyes, we would follow Vander’s perspective.

The beginning would be very similar, showing the aftermath of the battle. Destroyed streets, dead bodies, and eventually a soldier executing a civilian. A slow and melancholic music is guiding the scene until it suddenly changes to more dramatic as Vander bursts into the scene, killing the first soldier. Next, we see him fight and take down another two soldiers. Once he’s done, he lets out a sigh of relief. As the smoke begins to clear, he notices two scared girls standing close to him. The rest of the scene could unfold like it does in the original. However, instead of ending with one of the girls looking angrily back at the battlefield and the city, the final shot would focus on Vander carrying the two girls in his arms. As he’s leaving, he takes a little look back knowing that from this moment on, his life has changed forever.

By changing the point of view, the audience no longer experiences the tragedy through the fear and confusion of the two little girls. Instead, they witness it through the eyes of the last standing fighter, who unexpectedly becomes responsible for two orphaned kids.
