most important thing for me to get likeness is headshape.  The more you practice the more you will instantly see the angles and shapes of the head.  The triangle method is to get you started, you will soon start seeing the triangle and not even need to physically draw it.  Practice getting that head shape correct and your are already 70% there to great caricature.
