All Roads...

All Roads... - student project

So, here is the Class Project from a class that combined Procreate & Illustrator. My technique & colors need a little work, but I like the outcome. But, it’s much easier than drawing in illustrator and using their brushes as you can import texture from PC. All Roads... - image 1 - student projectAll Roads... - image 2 - student project
Well, I’ve watched a lot of videos on original art versus digital art and vectorizing original art, redrawing, or not, and all the various methods. Quite frankly it gets a little confusing. You know what they say, all roads lead to Rome. Let’s hope that’s the case.

Anne’s class on vectorizing watercolors was great and easy to follow, however, I obviously need a little work in translating watercolors into Illustrator to vectorize.  I’m good with watercolor on paper, but I’m not sure if I’m sold on this just yet. I think I prefer the more structured approach using my iPad & Procreate right now (see peach poppy) drawing over original art.

I am working on a third option which entails using Procreate for the drawing and the texture which I learned in another class.  You then import into illustrator and colorize there. I’ve tried it once before and it’s tedious but the result is really nice, sort of a combination of both. The last sketch below is what you import from Procreate into illustrator. It looks a mess. But it retains all the layers and if you colorize each one it actually turns out kind of nice. I’ll post it when finished.
