After creating the five shapes, I had a lot of empty space left, especially in the upper right corner. I feel that the wavy lines direct the eye roughly in a circle and mimic the motion of waves. By adding the group of black dots, the piece has found some grounding (dark color), additional interest (they could be bubbles in water) and the grouping also echoes the idea of a swarm, like the blue shape below.
