A little House Martin

A little House Martin - student project

This is the first passable loose watercolour painting of mine! Huzzah! The fact that this looks like a bird, and not a fever-dream/nuclear disaster is all thanks to this brilliant course & instructor - thanks Will Elliston!

I really wanted to paint the House Martin that’s nesting in my parent’s village this time of year, so I had to go off-script on the template - but the instructions and colour theory reminders (as well as how to actually get the colour down on the first go) helped A LOT.

I may have panicked on the feather detail addition & overworked it, it’s a bit messy - so I added some colour splashes as a distraction! But that’s something I definitely need to work on - any tips on how to improve and pare down my brushstrokes would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for this course, it came at the perfect time and I really enjoyed it :)
