A good day for cookies

I started my project with drawing what was next to my iPad on the desk. The cookies were different enough to inspire this work: one with text and decorative borders and the other with shiny red jam. I think it’s a good idea to start with something that is readily available and just go from there. Because the alternative can often be getting stuck on the decision of what to draw instead of actually being creative. That’s where the “Start Simple”comes from.

So these were my humble two cookies.

A good day for cookies - image 1 - student projectAfter having enough coffee to get me going, I played around with the background color like we see in the class. That requires some adjustments to the cookies layers that turned out to be rather transparent.

Then it felt like these cookies have more potential, and I decided to add a plate to the illustration. By then I was committed to the drawing and wanted to create a compelling design.
