30 Day Watercolour Challenge
Day 30 - First try! Not perfect, but not bad either! A suitable finish for a fantastic 30 days of watercolouring! Thank you Zaneena for a brilliant class! I learnt a ton and am already looking forward to your next class! Xx
Day 29 - This one is in my sketchbook again and the sky definitely didn‘t turn out right. I did another version on Saunders paper that I had left over from yesterday, but it turned out even worse .. so it‘s the sketchbook version you get ;) Another one to practice a few more times.
Day 28 - It took a couple of tries to get the paint consistency and amount of water on the paper somewhat right. I used Saunders Paper today and I‘m still not 100% happy with the blend. So I think I will try it again tomorrow on Arches and see what happens. I also need to use more purple and less turquoise and green I think. P.S.: The trees are wonky too lol.
Day 27 - Ok I suppose. I maybe need to get a bit more brave and not follow Z quite as closely.
Day 26 - Well ... Definitely struggled with this one at times. Created a big water blob on it by accidentally dropping my brush. Kind of managed to salvage it, but not 100%. also really struggled with making things look natural and random. Not a complete failure though I think.
Day 25 - Really happy with this one! No complaints ;)
Day 24 - This one was rushed, as I don’t have much time today, and it shows. This is my first attempt, no time for a second one today. Not too bad overall though. The meadow could be better and I still need to work on making things more random. My paint consistency wasn’t right for the splatters to start with and it shows. I also somehow ended up with a yellow spot on my sky. Never mind ;)
Day 23 - So after really feeling I have been struggling with the last few paintings and needing multiple tries to get it right, this one was somehow a breezer! Definitely room for improvement, but oh so enjoyable to paint! (I tried my sample piece in red and really didn't like it. So I went with my favourite colour ;) )
Day 22 - No dry brushing required, so today went well for me ;)
Day 21 - Oh dear oh dear ... even two attempts couldn’t fix this one ... Dry-brushing is just really not my thing. I just can’t seem to get it right. A lot more practice is required. New day tomorrow ;)
Day 20 - Really happy with the sky! Really not happy with everything else lol ... the mountains especially gave me nothing but grief. But i just had to call it at some point. One to try again at a later date.
Day 19 - I had two shots at this one. I thought I had ruined the sketchbook one because i messed up the sky by touching it when it had already started to dry. In the end it did turn out ok though I think. The second version is on Arches CP.
Day 18 - The reflection is a bit dodgy, and the lake darker than I intended. Overall I’m happy with it though.
Day 17 - Happy with this one :)
Day 16 - Dry-brushing is not my strong suit ... I was much happier with yesterday’s painting! Seascapes all the way for me ;)
Day 15 - I am really chuffed with this one! No complaints for a change :)
Day 14 - I had to do quite a bit of trouble shooting for this one, so all things considered, not bad ;) I’m not happy with the edge of meadow and mountains though. I have real trouble making things irregular and look natural.
Redraw Day 10 - So much happier with this version! And i got a clean blend on the beach this time and no mud. If I wanted to be picky, I forgot to blend the mountain shadows ... ah well ;) But I have a tendency to touch stuff thats already drying and then mess it up. I didn't want to do that this time.
Day 13 - Really happy with the sky! Really messed up the Lavender Field lol ... Another one to repaint ;)
Day 12 - Back in my sketchbook. I’m happy with this one :) It isn’t actually this yellow. The downside of taking a pick in artificial light.
Day 11 - A variety of attempts today ... all papers are 100% cotton, 230 gsm Etchr sketchbook, 300gsm Arches CP and 300 gsm Saunders CP.
Not too bad, but practice still required. The result on the Arches probably turned out with the softest blend. But might have been coincidence.
Day 10 - Yet another rushed one ... the kids just wouldn't sleep for me tonight. I created more mud as well. Should have waited for the sea to dry before trying to add the beach. That’s what you get for rushing two days in a row :( Another one to repeat another day, as I really love the concept!
Day 9 - Well ... what a disaster that was! I created a ton of mud and nothing turned out the way I wanted it to. I tried to fix it a couple of times and made it worth both times. I think this one mainly turned out the way it did because I didn’t have much time at all and rushed it a lot. But you got to own up to your failures too .. so here it is. I will be redoing this one at a later date though, when I have the time and patience to do it properly.
Day 8 - Not entirely happy with the snow. Rest is ok I think :) Maybe a bit too much turquoise and not enough of the other two colours.
Day 7 - I was a little worried about the palm trees, but they turned out better than expected!
Day 6 - I’m actually quite pleased with this one :)
Day 5 - Created a bit of a meadow bloom, but other than that I think it turned out ok. Colour looks more intense this time I think.
Day 4 - I like how the mountains turned out. The sky gradient I think is ok, but the colour a bit too washed out.
Day 3 - Turned out ok! But I chickened out of the birds ...
Day 2 I’m quite happy with! Turned out better than I thought it would :)
Day 1 I created a bloom and the birds are horrible!
