SMALL  SKETCHBOOK FEATHERS (little bookmarks)

Watercolor Bookmarks - image 1 - student project

Starting small with the small feather templates, I filled two sides of a 5x5" watercolor sketchbook with feathers. Wet-on-wet was used for all of these sketchbook feathers.

The top feathers were painted with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors then embellished with a fun array of bright fine-point marking pens. The paint was so brigjt that it was the perfect opportunity to use some garish sparkly ballpoint pens I found at a low-cost-deal store.

The feathers below were painted with Holbein granulating watercolors, also bright but offered a more satisfying wet-on-wet painting experience. I loved how the water partnered with this paint, and that was all the embellishment I wished for these wee feathers ❤️.

They ARE bright and colorful, these bookmarks of my dreams. Loved painting these wet-on-wet with the Holbein paints and watching the paints have playtime with the water.  I used Posca pens and other fine-point pens to embellish these feathers. Such a fun class!

Thank-you Melanie. I appreciated all the templates, handouts and the suggestions for getting the most out of this class through playfulness, beginner or not.
