Beautiful textured owl 🦉❤️

I really enjoyed painting this! My approach to every project is: “I don’t know what the outcome is going to be, but I’m going to give it a go.”
I followed the guidance of the lovely Jane, and through this painting I was able to explore how granulation can help create texture. I received a set of granulating paints just a day after I came across this tutorial - very handy!
My paints were different to Janes, so I had to improvise with colours. I used Rosa Gallery paints - Caput Mortuum mixed with Umber, Indanthrene Grey, Burnt sienna, Sepia, and an Ultramarine Violet from DS, which I do have.
I wanted the owl to be more front-facing, so I found another reference photo to work from - what a brave move! 🙈
It’s my first ever owl, and I’m very pleased with the outcome, especially the face and the eyes. Next time, though, I’m going to keep the body much lighter.🦉
Thank you for the lovely tutorial!
