How I unblocked creativity

Process

First attempt was a fail. Salvaging all that overly-thick oil pastel to create a resist background wasn't a plan. First attempt spent a night in the art trash bin. Meanwhile, my thriftier side awakened the next day asking, "Why are you wasting all that oil pastel?" Thrift won! I grabbed a scraper thingy and  removed that thick oil pastel in ribbons. I wanted to try again over the first attempt, and I valued all those scraped ribbons.

This was not I was hoping for, but I worked with what remained after all the scraping. The creative question : "What would happen if I used the scraps as a background for an abstract resist?"

Lesson Learned

Breaking creative block didn't enable me to ❤️ my second try. The Block-Breaking gained value by trying something new.  Cover up on first blooms made them more purple than pink. OK. Finding value in what I cast off as a failure ended up unblocking AND re-energizing creativity. Two pieces from one class! Also, in the future I will be more delicate in applying oil pastel. 😜
