Phew! I made it - AWE 2 with Fatih
Having recently completed AWE 1 (Abstract Watercolour Escape) I did some busy work, and then ran back as fast as my little feet would carry me, to my happy place with ink, water and pigment to play some more with Fatih. And this version of AWE which was more wet on dry with some more lines and neurographics was really FABulous to paint. I find it just as satisfying and relaxing to watch Fatih in real time rounding off the lines with ink, as I do when I'm actually drawing this myself.
This was my first version on Funto 100% cotton Watercolour Paper with 01, 03 and 05 ink pens ... I added an extra wiggle in the middle, because, why not?

My watercolours in the first one were Viridian Green (Winsor & Newton), Emerald Green (Sennelier), Buff Titaniam (Daniel Smith), Manganese Blue (Daler Rowney), Transparent Turquoise (Roman Szmal) and Bright Rose (Holbein). I loved the Buff T beside the Manganese Blue, and the Turquoise against the Bright Rose - very satisfying. But I wasn't too fond of the Viridian Green in this mix, it was a bit muddy looking, but the Emerald Green perked it up a bit. So I had a lot of fun with the splatters too, and I really took my time with the colours to make sure that I left some white spaces.

Sometimes I can't sit still with an idea, so I repeated the line drawing again, with the intention of just doing a double-wiggle in the centre, but for some reason my brain and hand wanted to do 3 wiggles again - I need a brain-assistant to blame 😄

I changed the colours this time, and went for Cobalt Blue, Cerulean Blue, Dark Blue (Schmincke), Titanium Buff (Rembrant) and Transparent Orange Pyrrol (Daniel Smith). I had such a blast with these colours, and I got such a thrill when the Cerulean Blue crept into the Buff Titanium and created little trees! And that striking Orange was gorgeous - and I really wanted to use more, but then it would not have been an accent but a full-blown conversation. On this painting I closed off the bottom right corner of white with a mixture of the colours as splatter-dots, and I loved how that worked out.

Thank you Fatih, I'm really pleased with the second one, and it's on the wall now! I love these projects, it gives me a chance to relax, unwind and play without any feelings of guilt because I know there is plenty of time to stress later 😉 Phew, we made it - thank you so much for this wonderful class ✌️😎 I am already underway with AWE 3! 🎨💨
