Pin Prick Art - Create Enchanting Landscapes With Unexpected Pin Prick Mark-Making

I have been dying to see this sort of pin-prick art and curious enough to have added this class to my ever-growing files. It’s an amazing use of your ref photo to add a beach on the shoal, or am I reading it incorrectly? Good idea to try an image printed on wc paper then give the pin pricks a try. You are a valued source of both feedback and inspiration!

Thanks Judy :)  I wasn't happy with the painted-over image of the man in the field, so I flipped the paper around and called it the ocean.  :)

I agree, the first image feels really strong! The painted photograph gives it such a moody, layered atmosphere, and the pin pricks add lovely shimmer and detail without overpowering it. I especially like how the umbrella becomes a sweet focal point in all that beautiful movement.

Love the beach scene. I imagine this looks beautiful with light shining through the pin holes.

Thanks :)I'm trying to figure out how to make the piece look like it's back-lit; next time I might make the holes with a slightly bigger diameter then mount the pricked painting onto white paper. Maybe that would emphasize the light more?

Me either .. it was fun to try! This reminds me of colonial-era tin lanterns that were punched into patterns.

I think the first image is probably most successful; I printed a photograph on watercolor paper, then painted and pin-pricked over it.
