For the last project, I wanted to create an emotional and inspiring story about young girls challenging expectations in skateboarding. The main takeaway I wanted the audience to feel is that passion and dedication matter more than stereotypes or other people’s opinions.

I started by showing Relz’s perspective and personality to introduce the idea that every athlete has their own path and background. Then I shifted the focus toward Bella’s journey: discovering skateboarding, falling in love with it, dealing with doubts from others, and proving herself through her actions.

When editing, I prioritized the emotional progression of the story over just showing skills. I wanted the audience to connect with the characters first, then experience the excitement and confidence that comes from skateboarding. I used music and sound effects to support key moments while keeping the dialogue as the main focus.

The color grade was designed to match the uplifting and energetic feeling of the story. Overall, my goal was to create a short documentary-style edit about confidence, individuality, and encouraging more girls to feel welcome in skateboarding.

Thank you for all the information! I really enjoyed this course. Brandon did an excellent job explaining the editing process and making everything easy to understand. I learned a lot of valuable skills from scratch and I’m excited to keep improving and applying them in future projects.
