Watercolor Rose Build Depth with Layered Wet-on-Wet

These are both really beautiful. I love that you shared the two versions side by side, it’s so helpful to see your progression. Your roses have such nice structure, especially in the centers. You’re really starting to understand how to build those petals, and it shows. I also think you’re exactly right about the hard and soft balance. You’ve got some lovely soft areas, and then just enough definition to give the flowers form and presence. And yes, paper makes a difference. You handled it really well, especially knowing you had to move a little quicker and re-wet. That’s not always easy, and you adapted beautifully. As you keep going, I’d love to see you loosen up just a little more in a few areas and really let the paint flow and do its thing. Sometimes the most beautiful moments come from that. Both of these have such a nice feel, and it’s clear you’re really understanding the process more each time. Really lovely work.

My paper is not 100%cotton so i have to work faster because it easly dry up. I have to re wet again to add more colors. I think the hard and softness complements in this painting. Thank you, Brenda.
